I don’t think adults use enough of their imagination or create enough stuff. Honestly that’s why I am ready for the robots to take over for us all because then we can have our second renaissance. This “robots taking over” scenario is much more fun and positive than the one where WALL-E plugs me into a biotube so that my body heat can power his modem.
We have had numerous revolutions with industry and tech but we have not really had a modern day renaissance.
Can we even have another renaissance? The big one was really just escaping the dark ages and gaining a new frame of thinking through art, architecture, sciences, politics, etc. because turns our that death was around the corner for everyone during the Plague. Perspectives changed and we started to search for connections in different things because life was clearly limited at the time, might as well make the most of it.
How on earth did they have the time to create all that stuff. I know the Europeans had 200 years of Renaissance but still, it’s impressive. I’m lucky if I have a weekend available to do nothing. I suppose I find my creation in different avenues. I’ve been keeping a small garden in the backyard and propagating some baby lettuce and carrots. I may not be much of a drafter or a composer but I do have a little green thumb.
What would Da Vinci recommend I do? I guess after he’s done marveling with my iPhone he would then wonder with all this technology and innovation why doesn’t it give me more time to create? You would think with how fast we create better and better technology it would make our jobs easier but I think all it has done is create a world where we can do more for someone else and less for ourselves.
