Howdy Quarterly #1
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life

Editor’s Note
Legacy social media sites are no longer worth maintaining. Algorithms dictate what I see in my feed and measure everything about me digitally for profit. When the application is free, you are the product.
Howdy Quarterly is my take on reclaiming my sharing power. These are snippets of my life I’ve curated for friends, family, and others to view and engage with. No ads, no algos, all goof.
I have enjoyed being off social media but I am missing an avenue where others can “catch up” so to speak with what I am up to. HQ is where I will share achievements, silly stories, life events, and my photos with anyone who cares to visit.

2025 Recap

Paris, Champagne Land, London
April 2025
Madi and I took two weeks off and visited France and England. We ate and drank merrily while enjoying an adventure together.

Ireland – England
October 2025
Our biennial boys trip abroad took us to Galway, Dublin, York, and London. One of the highlights of the trip was a formal croquet lesson from the Ealing Croquet club.

Nashville
August 2025
I traveled with Mark to the fantastic city of Nashville to enjoy the sights and listen to the sounds of Relient K in an intimate sized venue.

Texas Tech Big 12 Championship
December 2025
Words cannot describe the history made, or the beat down on BYU that Madi and I witnessed in person in Arlington.

Quiet Places
I have noticed a consistent theme that I include almost by accident in my travel planning. There seems to always be a quiet place scheduled where the hustle and bustle of cities is avoided, the need to see every piece of art vanishes, and it almost feels like life was put on pause for a while.
There are many times when I feel like I need to squeeze the lemons of life and get every ounce of juice. You should see all the art, eat at every recommended restaurant, capture every experience possible. This can lead to a lot of unnecessary anxiety with travel planning before I even get to where ever I am going. Attempting to schedule every minute of the trip to ensure no good thing goes missed.
With my current travel planning there are now gaps to leave room for whatever life dictates. Surprisingly the lack of things planned reduces my anxiety in the moment. I can wander, enjoy a view, sip an apertif, or turn my brain off to appreciate whatever is in front of me.
Upcoming Stuff
Tennis, Tennis, and more Tennis
I have started to get back into tennis and convinced Sam and Mark to start back up too. I attend drills with others at our local tennis center and have been scheduling to play in local tourneys around town.
Home Remodel
Madi and I formally set a date for our remodel project so we are excited to see our guest bathroom become usable again along with a ton of other updates. Party invites to celebrate will be sent once we hit about 80% done.
